Safety through Visibility
- Bright innovation for more safety in road traffic and a new, modern rear design!
In 2003 UTSCH AG introduced the “Feru-Lux” – the first self-illuminating, aluminium-stamped license plate in the world. The fundamental idea to increase safety in road traffic by using light to heighten the awareness of motorists was of paramount importance to UTSCH in developing the Feru-Lux. At the same time, UTSCH took into account the wish of car owners and the automobile industry to customize and re-design the rear of the vehicle.
The new license plates are illuminated using electroluminescence. This type of lighting is substantially brighter but at the same time non-glaring, which increases the readability of the license plate. Feru-Lux gives the vehicle a striking appearance and makes it stand out, even in the presence of an increasing number of light reflections from advertisements and street lighting. This means improved traffic safety, especially for pedestrians and cyclists, who do not have any light source of their own and thus cannot take advantage of the reflective properties of standard license plates.
Meanwhile, other products that will round off UTSCH's innovations are following this trend. One example is a new license plate illumination system “SLN”, which has been developed by 3M Germany. SLN is a so-called 'transmitted light' number plate. It is partly manufactured and sold by Utsch and is already on the market. For this system, however, a special number plate is required, which is also manufactured using tools and machines developed by UTSCH especially for this purpose.
As a driving force behind innovative systems, UTSCH has also developed an illuminated license plate frame that can be used with pre-existing number plates and provides optimal illumination of the vehicle. This reflected light method is a cost-effective alternative to conventional license plate illumination and will be sold under the product name Erulux.
All of these systems have one goal: “Increased Safety through Visibility!”
But the desire for exclusive design has also been taken into account. The automobile industry has a strong interest in new rear vehicle designs and many car drivers would like an individualised, clean look for the rear of their cars. These products will make this possible:
