Security License Plates
Many countries around the world rely on UTSCH to supply them with security license plate blanks. The state-of-the-art UTSCH blanking plants produce all kind of plates and sizes, quickly, reliably, and economically. The manufacturing process starts with the raw material: aluminium in coils. The license plate blanks are manufactured in the fully-automatic, sensor-controlled production sequence. The lamination process on equipment patented by UTSCH ensures an exact positioning when graphic foils are used, for example with foils bearing a country’s insignia. Colour emblems and additional security features, such as country-specific holograms or even OVDs, which make forgery of plates almost impossible, are applied by integrated hot stamping devices.
In a laser-coding station reflective foils can then be provided with a permanent identification code, similar to a watermark. This code is well-protected because it is located underneath the top layer.
Product quality is essential for UTSCH and thus all security plate blanks – as well as all other products of Utsch – have to pass the stringent quality checks of the Quality Management System, which conform to the high standards of DIN EN ISO 9001:2000. For some types of license plates the quality checks are executed fully automatically by means of a video inspection system. In this way authorities and private plate manufacturers can be sure that they will be supplied with the best quality security license plate blanks available worldwide.
For these reasons many local number plate producers and authorities prefer to purchase the security plate blanks required for their local production from UTSCH, rather than manufacturing them on their own. Thus, they can concentrate on their core job of individualizing the plate by means of embossing and distributing the finished security license plates.
