Security License Plates

License plates need to be treated as security documents for the secure identification of a vehicle. This new approach presents the challenge to add documentary security features to a license plate made of aluminium and reflective sheeting.

UTSCH recognized this challenge early on and has developed technologies to add and irreversibly integrate proven security features like holograms, laser marks and UV codes to vehicle license plates, making them Security License Plates.

To enhance the security of vehicle license plates, the blank plates are embossed with clapper dies featuring a script that cannot be forged or with a country-specific font. The embossed area is coloured by dry roller coating - more commonly known as hot stamping - using a foil displaying further integrated security features. This makes it virtually impossible to forge this high security vehicle license plate.

To combine beauty with functionality the country's national emblem can be added to the number plate. Feelings of national pride increase public acceptance and the emblem makes it even more difficult to copy the license plate.
